All Saints Mass

This Saturday, at the 11:30 Mass at Christendom College, William Byrd's Polyphonic setting of the Propers will be sung by the Palestrina Chamber Choir. This will be an historic first!

I want to say congratulations to everyone for how the Propers turned out. We all know it wasn't the best ever and none of us got chills, but considering the limited practice time we had, the complexity of the pieces, illness, and stress over studies and work, I thought it came off very well! I hope we will get a chance to try them again next year and really make them shine.

The thought also struck me that we could re-use these propers for other feast days, at any rate the Introit: with a few word changes, we could do the Feast of St. Agatha and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Why not? :-) Or who says we couldn't perform them in place of a motet at some point?

In fact, Sylvia, I am planning on us singing the Justorum Animae as our offertory motet next Sunday at Old St. Mary's.
